Ages 12–15: The Next Level of Adventure

Scouts aged 12 to 15 are ready for bigger challenges, greater independence, and even more fun. The Scout Section is built on the Spirit of Adventure, encouraging young people to push their boundaries, try new experiences, and grow as responsible members of a team. At this age, Scouts have a stronger sense of who they are and what they enjoy, and the section reflects this through the unique identity created by its members.  This identity is guided by the Scout Promise and Law, which promote values such as loyalty, trustworthiness, respect, and bravery—qualities that help Scouts take on life’s challenges with confidence.

Troops, Patrols, and Leadership
A group of Scouts is called a Troop, which is made up of smaller teams known as Patrols. Each Patrol is led by a Patrol Leader(PL) and Assist. Patrol Leader (APL), who meets regularly with other Patrol Leaders in what’s known as the Patrol Leaders’ Council. This council helps shape the direction of the Troop, ensuring a high-quality programme and maintaining good order.

Most activities, meetings, and events in the Scout Section happen within Patrols. Scouts are encouraged to plan and run their own activities, giving them real opportunities to develop teamwork, decision-making, and leadership skills. Every Scout is given the chance to take on leadership roles, rotating responsibilities through different activities and events.

Activities and Events
Scouts take part in a wide range of exciting activities, from local Patrol events to large annual camps. A highlight of the year is
the County Shield, a major event where Patrols from around the County come together in a weekend camp that tests skills,
teamwork, and endurance. Each Patrol also organises its own camps and adventures, adding to the fun and variety of the
Scouting experience.

Firies Scouts meet on Monday evenings from 5.45 -7.15pm.
